A modern twist coupled with a Victorian design.

This restoration of a beautiful 1890’s cottage that flows into a modern extension was an absolute pleasure to create for our clients.

We kept and restored the original 1890’s cottage at the front of the property and replaced an inadequate extension with a more modern design at the back of the property.

The cottage restoration included a complete re-roof, new front deck, replacement of ceilings, wainscotting and installation of new cornice to match the 1890’s period. Completed by sanding and polishing the original wood floors to bring them back to their former glory.

For the modern part of this home we removed the old inadequate extension and created a concrete dry area for under house storage.
We then constructed the new extension using steel frames and installed steel frame bifolding doors that open onto both the new entertaining and private decks.
Installed new kitchen and hidden laundry with opening skylights and created a modern main bathroom with a cottage twist.
Laid new Blackbutt solid timber floors throughout the new extension to flow from the original wood floors.
To finalise this modern look we used a bagged brick veneer finish for the exterior.
